Flag Day is a day that United States citizens commemorate and honor the adoption of the U.S flag. Betsy Ross created our first national flag in 1776, with a circle of 13 stars and 13 stripes to represent the 13 colonies. The color pattern was to demonstrate a balance of hardiness, purity, and justice.
Our flag has since changed to represent every state through a star, but still holds a close resemblance to Betsy Ross’s original creation. We hope you find time today to appreciate what our national flag stands for, and the history of our country held within it.
