On March 1st, 2024, the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) unveiled updated recommendations aimed at safeguarding individuals and communities against respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. The decision to revise the recommendations is driven by the notable decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations and fatalities in the United States.
CDC guidelines state that people who test positive for Covid-19 no longer need to isolate for five days if they do not have a fever or if they are fever free for 24-hours without using fever-reducing medication. The CDC still encourages people to play it safe for five days after they are feeling better which includes masking around vulnerable people.
