Veterans Day was originally Armistice Day, honoring the end of “The Great War” (World War I), when fighting ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954, after World War II ended the decade prior, it was changed to Veterans Day to honor all Veterans from all wars and periods in time for our country.
