Effective May 1, 2023:

Kelley Automotive is thrilled to announce a brand-new policy in support of fathers, spouses, and adoptive parents!  Our Welcome Child Policy offers new parents 40 hours of PTO time to bond and care for a newborn or child brought into their home.

Kelley Automotive recognizes that unique physical, emotional, and financial hardships arise with the arrival of a child, and we seek to ease these burdens on our employees.  This policy was designed to be consistent with the Paid Medical Pregnancy and Child-Birth Leave Policy introduced in 2021.

The highlights of the policy are set forth below and the full text will be published in the Team Member Handbook in May 2023.

The Welcome Child Paid Leave Policy (hereinafter paid leave) applies to the following full-time employees:

  1. The employee is the biological parent to a newborn child, but did not give birth to the child;
  2. The employee lives with and is the spouse of the parent who gave birth to a newborn child; or
  3. The employee is a parent to a newly adopted child.

These hours must be taken consecutively so that the employee’s department can plan for the employee’s absence.

For non-adopted children, the time for taking this leave must be within the first six (6) weeks of the birthdate of the child.

For adopted children, the date to begin the paid leave for a parent can begin at any time during the adoption process and may be selected by the parent but cannot begin later than six (6) weeks from the day the child is brought into the home.

This policy in no way implies that fostering children is not important and impactful on the employee’s family. However, this policy’s purpose is to support the employee who is a biological parent to a child, or whose spouse has given birth, or who is a parent to a child being adopted.

Employees will be asked to sign an agreement to remain employed for 6 months following payment of the Leave payment.  Leave will be granted one time during any 12-month period.

If you do have further questions about this exciting new policy, please contact Monica Senk or Mary Lynn Hamrick.
